Summer is here although I’m quite sure it will leave just as soon as it’s arrived! In the meantime, it’s time to re-think the skincare regime because the warmer weather means my oily skin will just get greasier as the day goes on. I need something light and refreshing that keeps my complexion in balance and cool as a cucumber i.e. doesn’t make my foundation melt down my face. Here’s my recipe for fab summer skin!

Take one pump of chilled Molton Brown Skinfresh Facial Wash to gently cleanse the skin. Contains natural pineapple and lime extracts to exfoliate, American willowbark to re-balance moisture levels. This smells gorgeous and is a real pleasure to use.

Next take one cotton wool pad and add some chilled Molton Brown Skinbalance Toning Lotion to refresh your face. This toner is alcohol free and contains pink grapefruit and lime to brighten your complexion. It’s also fantastic at removing facial mask residue. Smells like a G&T too!

Lastly take a small amount of chilled Molton Brown Active Defense City-day Hydrator with SPF 15 and apply wherever needed. Contains Indian Water Lilly flower to cool, soothe and soften. This is a perfect moisturiser for summer, it’s light, fresh and absorbs quickly. Helps keep your ‘face’ intact whilst at the office or balmy evenings in the beer garden.

Cheers!

I follow several American beauty bloggers who are always waxing lyrical about US store Target. We don’t have the equivalent here in the UK and I hadn’t been to Target in years, however I paid visit on my recent trip to the US. I found some new Bonne Bell Lip Smackers that I have yet to use because I need to look at them for a bit longer. And they have to get acquainted with my other lip balms before I use them. Claire’s Accessories sells Bonne Bell Lip Smacker products but I haven’t seen these in the UK (yet).

Biggy Lip Smacker in Strawberry – This is 17g worth of lip balm as opposed to the normal 4g. I haven’t had one of these big lip balms since childhood. I lost my favourite 7Up one when I was about 11 and I still remember it. I will take better care of this one. Smells like my childhood in Colorado v. sweet!

Lip Smacker Lip Lock in Chocolate Cherry Kisses Lip Gloss – It looks like a piece of chocolate and I’m a sucker for cute tins! Smells like cherry liqueur chocolates that you get at Christmas. Gives your lips a nice pink hue and very moisturising.

Paul Frank Lip Smacker in Chachi’s Fried Iced Cream – Adorable tin, cute picture and fried ice cream flavour! Smells of burnt vanilla sugar. Gives lips a soft pearlised sheen.

On Waikiki Beach I found a David & Goliath store and this:

One Tough Cookie Lip Jelly in Chocolate Chip – definitely smells like chocolate chips. This is almost like a lip sheen and has a slight brownish colour to it so adds a bit of colour to your lips.

Also on Waikiki Beach at the ABC store I found these:

Hello Kitty Island Fun Lip Balm in Tropical Punch, Bubblegum, Pineapple, and Strawberry. They all smell like what they say and have a slight pearlised sheen you put them on.

The best thing about travelling is that you never know what new beauty products you will find. I discovered this scrub in a Rite-Aid (chemist) in a small town in Kentucky on my recent trip to the US. I went in for something else and came out with this instead. I couldn’t help myself. The packaging reminded me of Kiehl’s and the words ‘micro dermabrasion’ got my attention. I have never heard of c.Booth’s or Booth’s products as the label says so I didn’t have any expectations.

I arrived back in the UK on 28th May worse for wear. I had a great holiday but between travelling in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Hawaii my skin isn’t at it’s best. Between 6 flights lasting 5 to 10 hours each in less than 3 weeks it’s not surprising. Recycled cabin air, air conditioning and changing climates are for hardened flight attendants, not me.

This scrub is hardcore. I was shocked at how rough it is and how it scrapped all the dead dull skin off my face. I’ve even used it on my elbows and a few other dry patches. This could easily be used as a body scrub and I’ve seen other reviews saying the same. This also gave my skin a plumping/firming affect that lasts all day. You only need about a 20p size dollop to cover your entire face. The green apple fragrance is subtle and doesn’t over power you. It is recommended that you leave two days between using this as it is quite powerful. This is a excellent pre-mask treatment and really helps your other products like moisturisers and serums absorb better. If you love extreme face scrubs then this is for you! People with acne and really sensitive skin probably shouldn’t use this as I would imagine it would aggravate these skin conditions further.
