Pacifica

I love Pacifica products for several reasons:

  1. The creator - Brook Harvey has classified her fragrances in four categories: Florals, Fruits, Herbs & Spices, and Woods & Resins. This makes it easy for perfume idiots like me to choose what I’m in the mood for.
  2. The range - I can buy a body wash, body cream, perfume, and candles in a matching scent.
  3. The ethos - There is no animal testing, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, benzene, GMOs, mineral oil, peanut oil or triclosan in any of the products.

Tuscan Blood Orange and Hawaiian Ruby Guava are gorgeous with a fabulous mixture of sweet berries and citrus. The butters melt into your skin, absorb quickly and leave your bod freshly fragranced all day long. They are a great pick-me-up now that it is really dark in the mornings and keep my skin velvety soft.

So here comes the rant…

The full range is not available in the UK. I know there are some websites that sell bits and bobs but this isn’t good enough for me. I want a website I can order from like my fellow Americans have or a big store that I can walk into and select what I want which would be most of the store.

Meh!

I was offered this perfume by the beautiful Nicoletta from Nicoletta’s Beauty Space as she read how much I love Pacifica products after she reviewed this on her blog. I discovered Pacifica last year at Sephora when I was in Hawaii and I only bought a gift set not thinking that it would make more sense to fill up a suitcase full of the stuff.

As Nicoletta has already done a thorough review, I won’t repeat what she’s said but add just a few of my own thoughts. This reminds me of a fragrance that Avon used to sell called ‘Hawaiian White Ginger’. I distinctly remember it being one of first perfumes I was allowed to have when we lived in Colorado in the seventies. Waikiki Pikake isn’t a heavy burdensome perfume but a light fresh floral scent without being sickly sweet and I love that it lasts all day.

I’ve also got two solid perfumes by Pacifica that I bought at Sephora but I haven’t used them much as I really don’t know how. I know that sounds a bit silly but I never know where they should be applied. I’ve used them on my pulse points and my behind my ear but the scent doesn’t seem to last as long as spray perfume. But maybe I’m doing it wrong? If anyone has any sage words of advice for using solid perfumes I would love to hear them!

Pacifica sell perfumes in spray, solid, and roll-on form. They also do shower gels, body butters, soaps, soy candles, and gift sets. There are too many scents to mention and my head explodes every time I look at the website because their full range isn’t available here in the UK, but Himalaya sell some of their products and I’ve been told they are due to get more. All of Pacifica’s products are cruelty free, paraben free and 100% Vegan too!

Do you ever have those moments when you know you are making a big mistake and you can almost see it in slow motion and but you keep doing it anyway? I made said mistake about eight weeks ago when I was at the Ala Moana Shopping Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii. I was in Sephora looking at the Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava range and instead of buying some shower gels and body lotions I bought the gift set. Now don’t get me wrong it is very nice but I should have bought more stuff!

This gift set includes a solid perfume, body butter, and a soy wax candle. They even include a little box of matches! This scent is described as a ‘ intoxicating floral-raspberry scent with a touch of coconut and tart pomello’. As soon as you open the box the fragrance goes right through you -it’s gorgeous! I will use the candle during the winter when I need a pick me up, same with the body butter. The solid perfume tin looks like lip balm so I have to keep reminding myself to put it on my pulse points and not my face.

The website says ‘Pacifica skin care is free of Parabens, Sulfates, Propylene Glycol, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan and Petro-chemicals. Pacifica products are cruelty-free and 100% vegan’. They currently do 24 different scents and there really is something for everyone. I want to smell them all. Nature’s Boutique stocks quite a few of the soaps, body butters, and soy candles but I’ve yet to find the shower gel in the UK. We don’t have Sephora here anymore so I will have to keep looking. In the meantime if you know anyone in the UK/EU who sells the shower gels please tell me!
