Hair & fragrance

I know 2 in 1 products are a way to save money and time and I’ve tried to love these but I can’t bring myself to do it any longer. Let me explain….

Lucky Tiger

I’ve had the Lucky Tiger Head to Tail Shampoo & Bodywash forever and I’m making James use it up because I hate it – yes I actually hate it. You can use this to wash your mop and your bod at the same time but I’ve never felt very clean after using it. The peppermint is way too overpowering and the lather disappears very quickly. Now I know some people say that you don’t need foaming agents to get clean as it’s only a gimmick, but that gimmick works on me! As a shampoo it’s okay but I still need a conditioner afterwards and as a body wash it’s like using water.

Aussie

I only just bought the Aussome Volume 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner the other week when I was in Superdrug. I saw a man standing around with a clipboard in the shampoo aisle so I hastily grabbed the 2 in 1 and a separate conditioner as I did’t read the label properly. I managed to shuffle past clipboard man before he started me questions about shampoo presumably. It’s a good thing I picked up the conditioner too, this washes my hair really well but without conditioner my wet hair is impossible to comb through – even with my fingers. This might work better if my hair was really short but it’s a little past my shoulders so it’s a no go for me.

I know Philosophy also do 3 in 1 products that can be used as shampoo, shower gel, and bath foam but I’ve never got on with those either. So what do you think – can you really clean and condition your hair at the same time? Are you happy to wash your hair with the same product you shower with?

Lemme know in the comments!

As you all must know by now I’m trying to whittle down my ridiculous stash of goodies which is going better this month than last. I’m also trying to use all those bazillion sachets and little bottles of goo that I have tucked away in a clear box that stares at me every morning in the bathroom. Does anyone ever use their samples or do you hide them away in a magic box for a rainy day? One of my favourite Australian beauty bloggers Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous has an impressive epic stash of samples that she has organised into little bags that you have to see!

So from left to right:

Elemis Aromazing Shampoo – This is the best one of the lot and made my hair look full and bouncy. My hair has a natural wave and this really brought it out without making me look frizztastic. Fee from Makeup Savvy sent me this last year and I only just got around to trying it so thanks Fee!

Pureology Antifade Shampoo – I did a sort of review of this in my December empties post. I really liked this at first but when I bought the full size products I wasn’t so impressed. I must have had loads of these sachets lying around but I think I’ve finished them now.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo – This is an Aveda classic for chicks like me who have the greasiest hair ever! Some of the Marriott hotels in the US carry Aveda so my dad always gets extras from the cleaning staff to give to me when he and my mom go away for the weekend.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment – Now this isn’t a sample but I thought as I was already talking about hair stuffs I’d throw this one in. Even though this is a treatment I’ve been using this as a conditioner because I ran out last week and haven’t bothered to get any more. At first I thought this had a weird smell like vinegar, but now I’ve decided it smells like a mens hair product. Anyway aside from funky smell this has done something really nice to my hair. I don’t know what it is but it just looks better. My hair is already long so I’m not trying to grow it but I will be buying this again when I run out.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely Sunday peeps!

Are you bored yet of me banging on about French brand Le Petit Marseillais yet? No – good because I still have more products to talk about from my November Paris shopping trip. I bought some bits from their ‘Karite’ range which is translated as Shea Butter in English. I got a repairing hair masque, hand cream, and…body scrub surprise surprise!

Masque Nourrissant – As you can see from the picture above, this is a lovely thick creamy hair mask and it smells a bit nutty and creamy like a desert. I used this at least 3 times a week and it kept my frizzy/flyaway hair in line. I would definitely re-buy this.

Creme mains Nourrissante – This is a fast absorbing hand cream that I keep in my drawer at work. It’s a must for this time of year, the air in our office makes me feel like a dried out husk!

Soins Gommant Corps – This is a good basic body scrub if you didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I prefer to use on dry skin then rinse it off for more friction. It leaves a slightly oily residue so you don’t have to use a moisturiser afterwards if you didn’t want to. This is also has that unusual creamy nutty scent.

I have no idea how much these things were individually, but I know they weren’t expensive. I like that they have a full range of products in ‘Karite’. I know why but bath and body products that match always make me happy. If you are headed to France anytime soon make sure you head to a Monoprix store to check out the goodies!
