Crabtree and Evelyn

I don’t know if you spend a lot of time thinking about hand wash but I do. Probably because during the course of the day at work I am reminded how horrible the soap in the ladies toilets is. I realise they aren’t going to stock the place with Molton Brown but knowing that the soap is going to strip every last bit of moisture out of my skin fills me with dread. I hate coming back to my desk with tight feeling skin that makes me run for the hand cream.

In your own house you have more control over what cleanses your mitts and although there is never a bottle of Molton Brown hand wash out of reach in my house I do like to vary it up a little. Crabtree and Evelyn Aloe Vera Conditioning Hand Wash is a real gem. It’s lovely and thick and smells like a day at Kew Botanical Gardens. When I bought this I didn’t think it would get a look in but the bottle is nearly empty which proves that men like nice smelling hand wash too. This is also the kind of hand wash you use after you’ve been pottering around in the garden. This priced at £10 and I think it’s worth it. Another thing I nearly forgot to add was that the pumping mechanism is long enough to get almost every last bit out of the bottle!

Crabtree & Evelyn are mostly known for their soap including their lovely Heritage range. They are also known for being a bit old-fashioned too but over time they have tried to change this image. Several years ago they got model and lifestyle guru India Hicks on board to create a more contemporary range of toiletries, candles and house fragrance items. I bought this because it’s nearly that time of year when my skin will start to dry out like a husk, so I need to start using body lotion again.

I’m not normally a big fan of anything pineapple and I think the ginger fragrance balances it out. The scent is actually quite delicate so it shouldn’t interfere with any perfume that you might wear. I really love the metal can that this comes in (I think it’s recyclable) and it looks nice on my vanity table.

The lotion pumps out really easily and is somewhere between a body butter and a lotion. It’s not watery thin but not too thick either. It does absorb pretty quickly into the skin so you shouldn’t experience that icky feeling you get when you put on clothes right after applying body lotion. The hydration lasts most of the day so it’s a good every day body lotion. If you have really dry skin you may need something with a bit more hydration. I would buy something from this ‘Naturals’ range again which includes soap, shower mousse, body butter, and body scrub. This is range is also paraben and mineral oil free too!
