If you are a UK reader and aren’t familiar with c.Booth it’s understandable, this brand isn’t sold here. So imagine my surprise and elation when I cruised my local Maxx and found these sitting on the shelves pleading to be taken home. I discovered c.Booth last year on my pilgrimage to the homeland and it was purely by accident. I was deep in the heart of Kentucky, sending the rents on a wild goose chase for Bag Balm and when the local farm shop didn’t have it they said I should try Rite-Aid.
I didn’t find the mystical Bag Balm in that particular shop, but I was stopped in my tracks by two tubes of loveliness by the names of Deep Cleansing Volcanic Mud Mask and Green Apple Microdermabrasion Scrub. Everyone eyed my carrier bag suspiciously when I finished shopping and I my mom choked on her water when I explained that I just bought some volcanic mud. Keep in mind she was already perplexed as to why we had driven across three counties to find something that is used on cow udders. I’ve been really happy with my c.Booth purchases so I’m glad I have these to add to my collection.
Limoncello Body Cream – This is a gorgeously thick, lemon zest scented body cream. Even though it’s quite dense it does thin out as you use it and absorbs quickly so I could easily use this in summer months too without it feeling heavy.
Peppermint Foot Scrub – Admittedly Peppermint is now so predictable for foot scrubs that it’s hard to get excited about another one but I’m up for the challenge. This has little bits of pumice and apricot seed suspended in a jelly like concoction that does feel nice and cool on my hooves. If you have really dry heels it’s not going to make much of a difference but I’d say this is pretty good for keep feet fresh and clean.
Honey and Almond Body Butter – I’m usually not a big fan of body butters but this one is the cats pyjamas. It smells like a porridge breakfast and the texture is lovely and thick but not greasy. It soaked into my skin no problem and feels very comforting when we are here in no mans land – not exactly Winter and not exactly Spring.
I love the c.Booth packaging and the sizes are what I expect from my bath and body products. I got the two tubs for £4.99 each and the pump body lotion was around £6.99. Obviously these are TK Maxx’s prices and normally retail for $6.99 each.
One caveat that I would add about c.Booth is that their strapline says ‘simple, natural, trusted’. Now I don’t know what the first and last words are supposed to refer to but I can say that their products contain natural and manmade ingredients. I know the word natural is bandied around quite a bit and I don’t want anyone to think that this brand contains 100% natural ingredients. c.Booth doesn’t make any additional reference to ‘natural’ anywhere else on the packaging so it’s not making claims it can’t back up. If you do happen to come across c.Booth at your local Maxx or elsewhere I would recommend you try some of their stuff – me likey very much!
