Annabella’s Review – Malin & Goetz Peppermint Body Scrub 220ml

This is available at Zuneta and Look Fantastic!

This is a mild scrub for frequent use or for those individuals who are scrub virgins and don’t know where to start. The pumice grains are quite small and you get a lovely foamy cleansing action. This product is ideal for pre-tanning application as it washes off easily and doesn’t leave a residue on you or a ring around the tub. It will also travel well as the tube can easily stash into any toiletry bag. It’s priced on the higher side but the thick consistency means you don’t need much and you should get plenty of sessions out of this tube.

The Good Stuff

  • Tingly peppermint is super refreshing
  • Leaves skin super soft
  • Packaging is uber cool

The Bad Stuff

  • Might be too pricey for some

Verdict

I do love this scrub mostly due to the peppermint. The scrubbing action is a tad too mild for me but that shouldn’t put you off as it’s great for an everyday wash.

Annabella’s Review – Lucky Tiger Face Scrub 150ml

This is available at HQhair!

This is a very concentrated product as in you hardly need any to get a good proper wash. Of course the first time I used it I poured too much in my palm (I think I was too excited to focus) so after subsequent uses I made sure I was more economical with my dollop.

I would class this as a mild scrub as the exfoliating action is quite gentle for everyday use. It has a lovely delicate smell of orange oil so the fragrance is quite ambiguous. If you have oily skin like me then this is perfect to wash the day off especially if you live in a city and feel grimy after work. I’ve used this to wash my face before re-applying makeup to go out in the evening and it does wash all my skin sins away. Lucky Tiger recommends that you use this after cleansing but I think this doubles up as both a cleanser and exfoliator. This face scrub is perfect for those couples who like to use each other’s stuff and looks wicked on the bathroom shelf.

Annabella’s Review – Crazy Rumors Perk Coffee Bean Lip Balm 4.2g

Update! You can now buy this and other Crazy Rumors flavours at SuperSmoocher!

Crazy Rumors is a small but perfectly formed partnership of husband and wife team of Brian and Edie Himmel of Brooklyn, New York. They have combined natural products with a fun theme and came up with lovely lip balm that is Vegan and Cruelty Free. Not many companies would take the time to make sure they tick of the ethical boxes but this sincere couple have and hats off to them!

Why I bought it

I jumped up and down when this arrived to me at work as I couldn’t wait to use it. I am constantly losing lip balms so I probably have a few scattered around the house but I thought I should really get another just in case the others didn’t turn up. None of the males in the office could understand why anyone would want their lips to smell like coffee except one colleague who loves coffee and he said he’d be more than happy if his wife tasted of his favourite drink. I have to say this lip balm does last longer than most and I really thought it would just be another flavoured lip balm but it glides on easily and is the perfect treat after using Sara Happ Lip Scrub. It isn’t greasy and doesn’t add colour so would be perfect for pre-lippy application. TOH* was also happy to kiss me after I used it siting the texture wasn’t off putting and smelled lovely.

The lip balms come in other ‘Perk’ coffee flavours, Amaretto, French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Irish Cream and Mocha. But for you tea drinkers out there don’t fret they’ve made a Vegan and Cruelty Free lip balm for you too! The ‘Brew’ range consists of Apple Spice, Bergamont, Peach, Lemongrass, Apricot and Spice Chai. They also have other ranges that don’t seem to be available in the UK yet but I shall let you know when they are! Happy kissing everyone!

Ideal for

  • Vegans/Vegetarians
  • Those looking for cruelty-free beauty products
  • Anyone who loves the smell of coffee

Verdict

I have to lose this one so I can buy some more!

Annabella’s Review – Tweezerman Pedro Smoothing Stone

Posted on : 04-06-2009 | By : Annabella | In : Annabella's Review, Beauty Tools, Foot/Hand/Scalp Scrubs, Tweezerman

This is available at Beauty Expert and Boots.

I always found pumice foot scrubbers to be awkward to use as they are usually too small and aren’t actually rough enough to really take off hard dead skin that can usually be found on feet/heel area. Metal foot files have also left me cold so when I discovered Pedro I was intrigued.  It looked easy to use as it has a longer handle and is quite a sturdy piece of equipment. So sturdy in fact I’m sure it could be used as a weapon if needs be!

How to use

There is a rough and smooth side so after you have gone to town scraping the soles and heels of your feet you can smooth them down to a nice buffed finish. I always use mine just before I finish in the shower as the skin on my feet has softened and is easy to remove. Unless you have the time to get regular pedicures (who does) this tool will keep your hooves in tip-top shape in between visits to your beauty therapist. This is particularly important in the summer if you regularly wear flip flops and sandals as constantly exposed feet become rough and dry. Make sure you rinse it off with warm water and store it away from the shower/bath so it can dry. I’ve seen this rounded version at Boots however other ones I’ve seen have a more tapered edge.

Annabella’s Review – Dead Sea Spa Magik Mild Exfoliant 75ml

Posted on : 03-06-2009 | By : Annabella | In : Annabella's Review, Dead Sea Spa Magik, Face Scrubs

This is available at Holland and Barrett!

The makers of Dead Sea Spa Magik have been making top quality spa products since 1981. They created the spa magik range so anyone could create a spa experience at home. They have recently re-formulated their products to eliminate parabens and include more certified organic ingredients.

How to use

The texture is fine grains of sand in a paste which means its easy to control the amount that comes out if you only wanted to exfoliate certain areas like your chin or forehead. It does a superb job and makes your skin feel toned and properly buffed.  I noticed my toner and moisturiser goes on much better after I have used it. It rinses easily in the shower but you’d probably need a damp sponge to remove it properly if you were just washing your face over the sink. I also use it on my neck area assuming that it will  scrub away any extra chins I might have or at least make them smooth. I can get a months use out of the tube and that is using it several times a week. I would classify this scrub as hardcore even though it is sold as a ‘mild’ scrub.

It’s small enough to fit in an overnite bag, and the packaging/smell is quite ambiguous so would appeal product phobic men. The packaging won’t win any style awards but who cares?

Who should use it

  • Anyone with oily/combination skin
  • Those who require a more robust scrub
  • Individuals who do not want to spend a lot of money

Who shouldn’t use it

  • Anyone who has dry/sensitive skin this product may be too harsh

Verdict

I do love this scrub and works exceptionally well for pre mask application.
